Oh, Karen! You're killin' me...

Well, it seems almost official: Karen Hughes (one of the few White House insiders who has the spine and political capital to counter Karl Rove) evidently wrote the Bush Twins' Tuesday night speech, with some input from the twins.

According to this article by the NY Daily News' Rush and Malloy, Rove said of the speech, "Whoever approved this, I'm going to put on a slow boat to China".

Stepping out on a limb here--I would venture to guess that Rove KNEW who had approved the speech before he made the wishful statement Tuesday night since Hughes was at the Gardens on Tuesday afternoon with the Twins as they rehearsed for their appearance. Is there ANY chance that the speech was a Hughes/Rove "showdown" (unbeknowst to Hughes)? If so, round one to Rove. Yuck.
